Bøsdalafossur waterfall

Lake Leitisvatn is the largest lake in the Faroe Islands. The lake has also been named “the lake over the ocean” as the view from Trælanípan from a particular angle functions as an optical illusion, appearing to look as though the lake is hovering directly above the ocean.

At the end of the lake is the impressive Bøsdalafossur waterfall. Bøsdalafossur is a 30m high waterfall flowing directly into the Atlantic Ocean. Alongside otherworldly shorelines, you will also see the beautiful free-standing sea stack Geituskoradrangur.

Trælanípan

Trælanípa (Slave Mountain) is a perpendicular rock wall, which juts 142 metres upwards out of the sea. The name dates back to the Viking Age, where disobedient slaves were pushed off the mountain straight to their death.
From Trælanípan, you can see the southernmost part of Streymoy, Hestur, Koltur, Sandoy, Skúvoy and Suðuroy.
