At the most southern point of Nólsoy, you will find ‘the lighthouse at the end of the world’ - as the famed Faroese author Willam Heinesen wrote. From Tórshavn he saw the boats and ships sail towards the open sea and disappear behind the big lighthouse in Nólsoy.

The lighthouse, Nólsoyar Viti, was built in 1893. Back then, the lens was one of the largest in the world. It is 2.82 metres high and weighs about four tonnes. Both the lighthouse and the related houses are superior workmanship, stacked from carved rocks. The houses were built for three families. Borðan’s population included 10 children at its peak. Borðan alternated with Nólsoy village in having the school. No one lives in Borðan now - except for the many sheep, birds and a few hares.

Pól Sundskarð

Pól is born in 1957 and grew up in Klaksvík, Faroe Islands. As a youth Pól already showed his skills as a proven sportsman in many different categories. The interest for extreme sport started at a relative late level in his life. In 2015 Pól ran 526 km in 5 days, and the same year he and his wife Bjørg, as the fist couple in the Faroes, climbed all 340 faroese mountains.
