Stóra reyn

A beautiful, cosy and interesting hike

In Kollafjarðardalur is a tank station. Driving 2km from the station, up the old mountain road called Oyggjarvegur, you will find the parking area.  Also called Gamlasmiðja (picture)

This is where we meet.

The hike is not hard, though the first 15 min are uphill.  We come to the special and geological interesting Stóra reyn. This is an enjoyous and scenic hike, the geology here is one of a kind. You will also get an illustrated explanation how this area was formed.  and several traces of the last ice age are visable too

Coming to the heart of this area, we will dwell app 15-20 min.  If you have a packet lunch, this is where you will enjoy it.

We then walk back to the cars, not the same way that we came.

Foggy weather does not take the charm from this hike

Duration:  2 - 2,5 hours.

Pól Sundskarð

Pól is born in 1957 and grew up in Klaksvík, Faroe Islands. As a youth Pól already showed his skills as a proven sportsman in many different categories. The interest for extreme sport started at a relative late level in his life. In 2015 Pól ran 526 km in 5 days, and the same year he and his wife Bjørg, as the fist couple in the Faroes, climbed all 340 faroese mountains.
